In the Chapel
The Library Minyan seeks to create a warm and inclusive davening experience for children, teens and their families. To that end, we have a children’s play area with books for our youngest members, children leading Adon Olam each week, and opportunities for older children to lead age appropriate portions of the service including Ashrei and leyning Torah, chanting haftorah and leading Shabbat davening for our teens.
Children also participate in Shabbat Yeladim (ages 1 through 11) and teens in the Torah Club (grades 6 through 12). Ilana Grinblat chairs the Library Minyan’s Youth & Family Committee.
Shabbat Yeladim — Shabbat for Children
Shabbat Yeladim, Temple Beth Am’s free-of-charge Shabbat morning and holiday program for ages 1-11, enables parents to go to one of the regular minyanim, including the Library Minyan, while their children enjoy outstanding, age-appropriate tefilot, play, and kiddush foods, combined with nurturing childcare.
Shabbat Yeladim meets on Shabbat from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Rena E. Ganzberg Education Center. Please contact Reut Sklar at rsklar@tbala.org for further information.
Torah Club
Torah Club members are kids between the ages of 12 and 17 who read Torah, haftarah, and lead davening dozens of times a year across all three of Temple Beth Am’s minyanim, including the Library Minyan.
Torah Club began in the fall of 2012 with 18 members and has grown to over 60 participants. It is a wonderful way for teenagers to contribute to the community both before and after their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and to use the skills they have learned.
